Revolutionary Movement is an invitation to remember the innate freedom and transformational power that exists in our bodies. In this space we dance to deepen our awareness of ourselves and our communities, using movement to tap into our bodies natural healing and regulation potential. Every dance will begin with a practice to experiment with different ways to connect, express, process, and resource ourselves. Followed by an open dance with music that guides us through the full range of human expression, both within our comfort zone and beyond, expanding our capacity to be in ease, joy, discomfort and the unknown.

Dance floors have long been sanctuaries for queer folks. From ballroom, to drag shows, paradise garage to studio 54 they’ve always been a site of radical expression, resistance, acceptance, healing, and celebration. Our queer elders harnessed the power of collective movement as a tool to enliven social movements. Need to raise money? Party. Grieving lost community? Dance. Remember yourself? Put on a wig and walk a runway. They showed us the way to not just survive but thrive and fight for life in the face of an unacknowledged epidemic, unearned hatred, and laws that threatened their very existence. Creating spaces that said you get to be whoever you are, come with whatever you’re carrying, and be celebrated. Revolutionary Movement is a calling back to the dance floor to connect with the revolutionary spirits of our queer ancestors so we may meet this moment fully empowered. We welcome all queers, their families, and allies to come, be held, and celebrated as we dance into a world where we all belong.

Space Agreements

  • No talking, shoes, cameras, drugs, alcohol, or fragrances

  • Dance like no one’s watching - this is not a space to perform

What to bring

  • Flexible clothes that allow for free movement

  • Water to keep yourself hydrated

  • A towel or extra shirt if you're extra sweaty

  • A respirator mask - if you do not have one some will be available at the door.

Accessibility Note - In this space our practices are adjustable offerings that we encourage everyone to engage with according to their own physical ability and comfort.
